This process takes from 14 to 18 months per harvest, and the colors are natural with no treatment or enhancements. Unlike its natural counterpart, this created opal is much tougher and not prone to breaking. Gilson-created opals are not imitations, not fakes, not simulants.

Gold overlay should not be confused with gold plating as gold overlay has 100 times more gold than standard plating with can contain very little gold. Handmade to order in limited quantities.
