This pair necklace is made from a whole vintage kutani ware matcha bowl. The philosophical idea of one is all and all is one has taken shape. Each piece is a perfect fragment, an unfinished whole.
The work is complete when we share it with loved one in the same way we share our joys and pains, and when we snuggle together each other and become one. The pottery was made from the aochibu series, which is one of the least circulated of the vintage kutani-ware. This is a difficult technique in which a beautiful blue-green glaze is painstakingly heaped up one by one. The rough texture gives a pleasant rhythm to the fingertips like sharkskin. The contrast between the arabesque hand-drawn in gold and the gold line of the kintsugi is wonderful, and the classic yet contemporary design is beautiful.
