Medium Real Hawaiian vintage 1970 s puka shell necklace shells authentic puka cowrie shells rare collectible tiny dainty rare

This listing is for the exact necklace showing in the picture (as are all my listings). These are medium size shells averaging 1/4 inch. There are a lot of very tacky and ugly puka shell necklaces online. And few of these are actually even real ones.

This very real, vintage, authentic puka shell necklace is made from actual real, beach worn beautiful shells. When looking for a puka shell necklace, please examine the shell and look to see if it has been cut. The usual necklaces out there marketed as puka shell, are just cut plastic.

Some are not even circular. Puka means hole in hawaiian. The puka shell is the worn out bottom of the cone shell.

Any cone shell can make a puka shell. If the necklace looks to be made of real shell, next examine to see if the shells look cut or naturally worn. You should see shells with curved smooth edges. Some may be less worn then others, but the majority should be smooth and near flat. If not, it is likely a cut cone shell necklace from the philippines.
