Gold-fill and sterling can definitely get wet. I surf and free dive in most of my jewelry. I usually take thin chains off before going into the ocean, however, because the layer of gold on a thin gf chain vs. A thick gf chain is less (based per weight). You can wash your hands, shower, and swim in the ocean with your nani shells. We do recommend steering clear of harsh chemicals (chlorine), oils, beauty products, make-up, and cleaners.
